SHRINE OF ST. JOSEPH MARKS BOTH ANNIVERSARY — A
celebration Liturgy was held April 25 to mark the 80th anniversary of the
Shrine of St. Joseph in bucolic Stirling. With Bishop Rodimer presiding,
Trinitarian Father Austin Walsh, general custodian of The Missionary
Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, the order which staffs the shrine, was
the principal celebrant of the Mass. Concelebrants included Trinitarian
Father Peter Krebs, shrine director; 20 other Trinitarian priests; and Msgr.
Patrick Brown, pastor of neighboring St. Vincent DePaul Parish in Stirling.
At the shrine (shown at left), the bishop (below) greets Trinitarian
Father Cajetan McDyre, who is assisted by Trinitarian Father Marco Antonio
Sanchez. Msgr. Brown is at right. The shrine's Hall of Saints (right)
includes St. Joseph, St. Jude and St. Anthony. Below, those who filled the
shrine pray during the Liturgy (left), and a young mother nurtures her
child (below). In honor of the multicultural communities who visit and
worship at the shrine, music for the Mass was in English and Spanish. In
1924, Father Thomas Judge, founder of Missionary Servants, purchased a small
farm atop a scenic hill in the Watchung Mountains overlooking Stirling to
begin what is now known as the Shrine of St. Joseph. [Beacon
