A Letter
and Invitation from Brother John
Dear Shrine
Family,
I am excited to invite single
men and women (ages 18-35) from
the Shrine family (and
throughout Northern NJ) to a
discernment retreat on April 28,
2012. The retreat will be given
by the vocation directors of the
STs (Missionary Servants of the
Most Holy Trinity) and our
sisters, MSBTs, along with Br.
John and other guests. The idea
is to help like-minded catholic
young adults come together and
share about God's purpose in
their life. God is calling us
each to something
special...being attentive to and
aware of what that is take some
listening, patience and help
from others. Please join us for
this prayerful and fun day.
Also, whether you are in this
age group or not, please invite
someone you might know who is
asking these same questions in
their life!
Please see the
attached flyer and use the
contact information or simply
call Br. John (908-647-0208) for
more information. In the
Trinity, Brother John

WEDNESDAY
NIGHT REFLECTION
GROUP
Pope XVI Benedict has established the Church’s Year of Faith in response to a “profound crisis of faith that has affected many people” and left them searching for answers.
“Ever since the start of my ministry as Successor of Peter, I have spoken of the need to rediscover the journey of faith so as to shed ever clearer light on the joy and renewed enthusiasm of the encounter with Christ,” the Pope wrote.
The Year of Faith will begin Oct. 11, 2012, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. That same date is the 20th anniversary of Blessed John Paul II’s publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, a text Pope Benedict said was meant to show “the power and beauty of the faith.”
He encouraged believers to study the Catechism of the Catholic Church during the upcoming year, saying the text was “one of the most important fruits of the Second Vatican Council.”
By studying their faith, believers can learn to understand it in light of new circumstances which drive others to doubt or disbelieve.
Even though the year doesn’t officially start until next October, the Group decided to begin this study of our Faith on January 4, (7:30 PM) and will use this book (each is asked to get their own copy): United States Catholic Catechism for Adults by US Conference of Catholic Bishops (Paperback - Jul 31, 2006) List price: $24.95
