The Shrine Ministry is a Shared Ministry |
"We are a collaborative ministry of religious and lay people expressing the living traditions of faith in ways that stir the hearts of contemporary women and men." That is how I describe the Shrine of St. Joseph when I am asked to define its mission. In this ministry the Shrine invites all to celebrate the joy and nearness of God at this sacred place. The Shrine thus becomes a path many have chosen to personally explore with God what is expected of them in their daily lives. The Shrine of St. Joseph is building on its rich heritage and stated mission. We are making collaborative efforts to express living traditions of faith in a world searching for rootedness. Spirited by the religious community, the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, and lay people from all walks of life and varying age groups, economic backgrounds and even with divergent approaches to their spirituality, the Shrine Community spreads God's word and love. It offers each of us the opportunity to carry on God's work in our own unique way, while deepening our personal relationship with God.
The Gospel calls us to be committed evangelists of faith, offering the spirit and experience of God's strength and peace through the ministry of reconciliation, spiritual days of recollection and renewal. The tender spiritual guidance and prayerful interaction that so characterizes the Shrine is nourished by the spirituality of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity. Accepting the role of stewards of these Sacred Grounds and God's work through them, we create opportunities for reflection, growth, service and celebration. We foster the development of individual gifts, honor the labor of our lives and discover together how these can be used in service to our world. We envision a new model of ministry, to be applied to our ongoing traditional ministries as well as to any new ministries. The Shrine of St. Joseph is a WE, a family, uniting its gifts to share our love and concern for the wellness/well-being of all God's people. |
